Easter....where to begin....
In a retail world they would have us to believe it's all about bunnies and chocolate. Well, I'm feeling the chocolate part (lol), but seriously, is that the best we can do for a holiday based on the one and only risen Saviour? I think we can do better.
I was talking with a friend of mine a few weeks back. It was the week of her 33rd birthday. I mentioned how it hit me when I was 33 that it was the age Jesus gave up His life for us on a cross. For me that realization was...well humbling. There He was like myself in the prime of life with family, friends, hopes and dreams, then He died. He chose to die. He chose to do our Heavenly Father's will. Why? That we might live.
His death was not a pretty one. It was pain and humiliation beyond our imaginations. And the real amazing thing is, He knew it would be, and still chose us.
I'd like to think that in my life I have been an example for Jesus. That someone has seen friendship in my eyes, felt love in my embrace, has known my forgiveness for a wrong, felt my loyalty. That I have let them to believe that Jesus makes the difference, because He does. I humbly know that anything special about me is Jesus. I have known His friendship, felt His loving embrace, know His forgiveness and walk in His unfailing loyalty.
Easter is the celebration of Jesus defeat over death and the grave. The day we celebrate His resurrection. You may ask, is God asking us to be like Jesus. Yes. Is He asking us to die? No.
He's asking us to LIVE!
Well said!!!
