Well I didn't plan on writing in the New Year, but here I am. I
think it's safe to say many (if not all) of us have been doing some reflecting
and hoping in the past few days.
Reflecting on the past year. On our successes and
failures. On what we thought would be and on what was. The simple fact is the
most careful planning doesn't make a guarantee.
Hoping for the New Year. For ourselves, our loved
ones. Perhaps you’re hoping for that promotion. For you kid to get into
"that" college. To lose weight (yeah I said it). For the New Year to
just have less pain and grief than the last.
2017 has a guarantee! A guarantee for
potential. Potential for good and bad. Now I know you're thinking "Gee
Anita, could you at least try to spread some sunshine?” well yes, yes I can.
You can look ahead to a future instead of behind. The end of 2016 didn't mean
the end. It didn't mean you’re not going to accomplish that goal you fell short
on. You’re not going to love again. You’re not going to find a way past your
grief.
The year that has
gone past is just that, the past. It's a part of who you are. Remember the good
times. Share stories of the love and laughter you enjoyed. Learn from it. Don't
let the pain or failures dictate your new year. Instead look at 2017 and say
"I'm going to do all that I can to make this year even better!" See
sometimes the best plan is a simple plan, the plan to never give up.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
