A: Yes….love is always a choice.
Now hear me out…..
You know me, I’m not gonna just ask you to take my word for
it, let’s look at scripture.
He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and,
‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Luke 10:27 (NIV)
We might argue that when a mother holds her new born baby,
she can’t help but love it. That would be nice. Fact is, our society shows that’s
not the case. I’m sure there are people reading this blog who never knew the
love of a parent like they should.
God is our creator, our Father. Does everyone love Him? Not
only do many choose not to love Him, but battle against Him and try to deny His
very existence. This is why God had to instruct us to choose to love Him and to
choose to love our neighbor. (Yes…even the one with the yappy dog!)
For all you romantics out there…..wait that’s me…..love is
still a choice. I know we like the ideas of falling into love, that “spark”, we
were made for each other romantic well….truth. The truth is, we do fall into
love, we often feel a “spark” (no comments on my cooking please..lol), and yes
God Himself may have handcrafted your husband/wife especially for you but YOU
still chose to love and not walk away.
If love wasn’t a choice:
There would be no abuse in the home.
There would be no one dying alone and uncared for.
There would be no poverty, because there’s enough to share.
There would be no war, because there would be no hate.
And there would be no babies abandoned on doorsteps or in
dumpsters.
Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs. Proverbs
10:12 (NIV)
I feel like I should say so much more, but maybe the truth
is simple, you’ll have to decide for yourselves. I leave you with this final
example of the choice of love.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only
Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 (NIV)
That's a good one I like it. :-)
