If you know me, you may have noticed I'm an optimist. Yeah, one of those annoying people determined to see the bright side of things. At some point you may have wanted to slap me or someone like me. It's ok, I understand.
What makes an optimist of one and a pessimist of another? I'm sure you can look up all kinds of research; one may say it's in your DNA, another the way your brain fires, another the way you were raised....yada yada yada...lol.
Here's what I think...I think some people are naturally prone more towards optimism and others toward pessimism, and yeah life, mind, upbringing can all have made an impact, but in the end it's up to you.
Now stop rolling your eyes and keep reading, because I'm not suggesting we can force ourselves to be optimistic overnight, but I am saying you can develop an optimist view. How you might ask, first make a conscious decision to find see good. You might say, "but I'm at the end of my road!" Stop! Now see that you are still holding on.
What the biggest key to changing? Guarding your tongue. Yes, you need to share your frustration, pain, fear, whatever with someone now and then, but you don't need to share it with everyone. In fact the more you talk about it, the more you depress yourself (yes you) and the more you hear those depressing thoughts, so shhhh.
Don't give up, because a life of what possibility is greater than a life of regret, and I want your future and mine so bright we've gotten wear shades!
